A couple was on cloud nine after welcoming their miracle baby. They have always wanted to be parents, however their journey has been one filled with devastation. Woman suffered eight miscarriages before giving birth to their healthy baby boy.
Woman Gives Birth To Miracle Baby After Husband Sells His Sneaker Collection For IVF
A woman named Lauren and her husband EJ faced a tough journey trying to have a baby. They had eight miscarriages. But in September 2021, they decided to try a special treatment called IVF to help them become parents, and they were full of hope.
EJ, who works in a steel plant, did something really special to help pay for the treatment. He sold his collection of 100 sneakers, which were his favorite shoes.
By selling them, he raised $4,800 to help cover the cost of Lauren's $15,000 treatment called IVig. They also used GoFundMe to ask for help and managed to collect $20,000 to pay for the entire IVF process.
In October 2021, the couple received some amazing news—they were going to have a baby! They were thrilled but also a bit scared because they had been through so much before. This baby was like a miracle for them after all the challenges they had faced.
When the couple began exploring the costs associated with embarking on an IVF journey, they quickly realized that it was quite expensive. In a surprising move, EJ decided to sell the sneakers he had cherished since his college days.
Lauren, at the time, had no clue why he was parting with his entire sneaker collection and what his motives were behind this decision. However, she had a strong sense that he was wholeheartedly committed to the idea of becoming a father.
EJ had collected almost 100 pairs of sneakers, and he firmly believed that there was no footwear more significant than taking steps toward building their family.
Lauren's journey included receiving IVig treatment, a medical procedure used in the US for individuals who have faced recurrent pregnancy loss. This treatment was crucial as it worked to prevent her immune system from mistakenly attacking her pregnancies.
Their IVF journey took a significant step forward with an egg retrieval procedure in September 2021, during which they obtained 13 eggs and six embryos.
Following this, Lauren underwent an egg transfer, and their moment of joy arrived when they received the news of her pregnancy.
Lauren's feelings were a mix of excitement and nervousness as she embarked on her pregnancy journey. She held onto hope and firmly believed that this time around, they would finally achieve their dream of becoming parents.
Lauren's pregnancy was far from easy, and she encountered significant challenges.
She had to be admitted to St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia when she couldn't keep any food or liquids down for two days, which was a concerning development.
The situation took a more critical turn when Amari's heart rate started dropping. Lauren was swiftly transferred to Cabell Huntington Hospital and had to undergo an emergency C-section, highlighting the seriousness of their situation.
After enduring a difficult pregnancy journey, Lauren joyfully welcomed her baby boy, Amari, who is now 16 months old. He arrived on May 1, 2022, weighing five pounds and three ounces at 5.51am.
However, due to the circumstances of the emergency C-section, Lauren had been under anesthesia during the operation and could only meet her baby boy for the first time 36 hours later.
Amari had to stay in the hospital for 17 days before he could come home. Being Amari's mom made Lauren really happy, and she thought it was an amazing experience.
Lauren and EJ wanted to have a baby shortly after they got married in April 2016. But in December 2016, just before Christmas, Lauren lost the baby inside her, which was very sad and unexpected.
Even though they were sad, Lauren and EJ didn't give up. They tried to have a baby again in the spring. But in May 2017, they lost another baby before it could be born, and it was very painful for them.
Despite the sadness, they didn't stop trying to have a baby. After their eighth loss in February 2021, Lauren went to the doctor for tests.
The tests showed that she had a problem with her immune system called elevated natural killer cells.
These cells were mistakenly causing her body to fight against the pregnancies, which led to the miscarriages.
After a long and tiring IVF journey, the couple was incredibly happy about their precious little baby. They described him as the sweetest little boy and were overjoyed.
The family feels a deep sense of gratitude towards the kind strangers who donated money to help them bring their miracle baby into the world.
Even now, the lovebirds are still in disbelief that Amari has arrived and that he's 'healthy and everything is good with him,' especially because they 'went through so much to have him.'
The giddy parents love 'watching him grow' and Amari's presence 'brightens up every single day.'
