After turning over her granddaughter to her biological parents, a lady who served as her son's surrogate said she is "sad about being separated."
Woman Is ‘Sad’ And 'Empty' After Giving Birth To Her Own Granddaughter
A woman who gave birth to her son's child has admitted that she experiences "a mix of tremendous thankfulness and some pain from the separation" from the newborn girl.
With her son Jeff and his wife Cambria wanting to have another child, Nancy Hauck of Utah served as a surrogate for the couple.
That is why the 56-year-old grandmother interfered.
Hannah, Nancy's grandchild, was born on November 2.
To bring Hannah into the world, she described the nine-hour labor as a "spiritual experience" in an interview with People.
She added that Jeff, Cambria, and her husband Jason were all there in the delivery room, making it an experience for the entire family.
That birth must have been really crowded.
After presenting her newborn granddaughter to her son and his wife, the grandmother who also gave birth to her said it was a bittersweet moment.
"Even though I know that the baby's going to my son, I know there'll be a little bit of that empty feeling," she said.
Jeff described it as a "beautiful moment" to witness his mother give birth to his child.
After Cambria was forced to undergo a hysterectomy in September 2021 to save her life, Nancy made the decision that she wanted to serve as their surrogate.
"They’ve had lots of struggles with infertility and had seven embryos to try with IVF and decided they wanted to use them all," Nancy said.
"Cambria had lots of complications with the birth of her twin boys so she had to have a hysterectomy so she can no longer carry her own children."
She added: "I just suddenly had a feeling a few months after that I should offer to do it. I told my son, and he teared up and was shocked - I hadn’t even told my husband at that point."
Nancy continued by saying that because of her age, none of them believed it would succeed.
But it happened, and today Hannah is here and doing well with her parents, her grandma, and her mother.
Nancy heard a voice one night, and Jeff and Cambria made the decision to call their daughter Hannah.
The little voice said: "My name is Hannah."
As they say, the rest is history.
Baby Hannah, welcome to the world.
