What does it take to be a hero? If you believe the movies then it takes super powers in most cases. And while that is awesome and all, in the real world those powers don't exist so what does it really take to be a hero. In the case of Shanta Jordan, all it took was a little quick action and doing what she felt like was the right thing to do. Shanta rose to the occasion and became a hero in that instance.

You normally would only see something like this in a movie. However, this woman is being hailed as a hero in real life after surveillance cameras caught her jumping out in front of a car that was out of control to save a young boy. Had she not acted when she did, the boy certainly would have perished.

Bridgeport Police Chief A.J. Perez said: “I want to say thank you to this good person. If she hadn't stepped in the child would be in direct contact with the motor vehicle against the wall, and most likely, he would have perished. He would have died. I truly believe it would have been a fatality.”

As noted in the original news report, Jordan did not know the boy that she saved. Both ended up being rushed to the hospital after the impact. There was a point where doctors feared that they were going to have to amputate the boy's legs, but after hours of surgery, doctors were able to save them. Doctors now expect both Jordan and the boy to survive.
