A woman made a detailed legal contract with her long-distance boyfriend. The contract has lots of rules they both have to follow. And here's the surprising part: they can actually "sue" each other if things don't go well.
Woman Makes Long-Distance Boyfriend Sign A Contract So She Can Sue Him If Anything Goes Wrong
How committed are you to your relationship? You might be living together or even married.
Perhaps your partner has asked you to sign a real "legal" contract, just in case things don't work out in the relationship.
Well, this might not be something most people can relate to, but there's a woman who actually created such a contract for herself and her long-distance boyfriend.
This contract includes a pretty long list of rules they both need to obey.
And get this, if something goes wrong, they actually have the option to take each other to court. Quite the romantic setup, huh?
TikToker Devon Motley created the Long Distance Agreement (LDA) when she and her boyfriend Geren Gathright were about to live apart from each other.
The specifics of how far apart they will be or for how long are not clear, but this contract outlines their commitments to maintaining their loving relationship.
The video showing the Texan couple signing this LDA has become a sensation on TikTok, garnering more than 1.8 million views.
In the video, Devon humorously incorporates the theme tune from the legal drama series "Suits" as they work on their 'contracts'. The caption reads: "POV: you and your bf write a contract before going into long distance so if anything goes wrong you can sue each other.”
They say distance can strengthen love, but this 'legal' document seems to ensure that they won't even get a chance to miss each other. The contract mandates that they "must call at least once every day" and maintain "continuous contact" throughout the day.
The agreement goes as far as outlining potential 'violations' that might result in one party taking legal action against the other.
These violations encompass actions like cheating, which is explicitly described as 'engaging in sexual activity with a person of the opposite sex', as well as maintaining any form of sexual involvement with someone of the opposite gender. It also includes communicating with individuals of the opposite gender and engaging in 'sexually suggestive remarks with malicious intent'.
However, the extent of the contract's coverage goes beyond just these points.
The contract also covers other wrongdoings like neglect and making false statements about each other, and it even sets limits on how much they can complain about their relationship.
Another significant rule is that neither of them can break up until September 1st of the following year.
During this period, they have to respond to every call, and both need to keep their location sharing turned on at all times.
Due to reactions like labeling the behavior as 'psychotic' and 'insane', the comments section on the video has been disabled, which seems like a reasonable response.
But others were begging for the LDA themselves, with one writing: “Girl, I’m going to need this.”
For those interested in having a copy of the document, it's now available for purchase. Devon has set up her own store where you can buy an editable Word document for $5.99 or a digital PDF version for $0.99.
And for those who want to proudly display their commitment to the LDA, she's even selling trucker hats that say 'don't talk to me I signed an LDA' for $24.99.
It seems like cuffing season has taken on a whole new dimension.
