Don’t worry, he knew about the past break-up before the wedding
Woman Marries Man Who Forgot They Broke Up Due To A Head Injury Seven Months Before
A woman has shared how her ex-boyfriend suffered a head injury and ended up forgetting they had broken up, an incident that eventually led to them rekindling their relationship.
Back in February 2020, Jenna made the difficult decision to end things with her boyfriend Mitchell, feeling “too overwhelmed by life” at the time.
However, just one day after their break-up, Mitchell had an accident that left him with a severe concussion—and no memory of the recent split.
The break-up and accident
The day after they broke up, Mitchell went skiing at Beaver Mountain in Utah, hoping to clear his mind.
According to Jenna, the 22-year-old attempted a jump, but the slope was "super icy." He ended up hitting his head hard upon landing and blacked out.
When he came to after suffering "a pretty severe concussion," Mitchell didn’t remember the break-up at all. He even called Jenna, asking if she could come pick him up.
The confusing aftermath
Jenna recalled: "Mitch kept messaging me and trying to hang out after his concussion and I was confused as to why he would keep messaging me because we had broken up."
"I thought that maybe he took the statement of staying friends really seriously. It even was to the point when I told him that my roommates and I had a hard day and he came and brought us ice cream."
Starting to feel regretful about her decision to end things, Jenna worked up the courage to ask Mitchell if they could start dating again, even though she was nervous about admitting she wanted him back.
It was only then that both of them realized Mitchell truly had "no clue" they had ever broken up in the first place.
Jenna shared that she explained everything to him in her car, going over the break-up conversation they’d had.
She reminded him of her reasons and the decision they’d reached together to go their separate ways.
"He told me he didn't remember any of that except for chatting in the car," she added, with a laugh. "But he didn't remember what we chatted about."
Thankfully, Mitchell found the whole situation “super funny,” which was a huge relief to Jenna, who had been worried about how he’d react to hearing it all again.
She also noted: "It made it easy to get back together because to him, we never weren't together!"
The happy ending
Five months after this unusual reunion, the couple got engaged, and by September 2020, they were married.
Jenna shared her thoughts, saying: "During my husband's speech, he brought up not remembering the break-up but how he is so grateful that it all worked out in the end."
"We are both 27 now and when people ask us about our love story it's our favorite part to tell. We really felt invisible strings pulling us together all along."
