In Australia and throughout the world, hearts have been melted by a daughter's touching final gesture to her dying father.

It turned out to be a Bundaberg rum and coke given by syringe when Pennelope Ann filmed her and her family sharing one last drink with her dying father.

Her now-viral TikTok video shows her opening a can of Bundy. She then injects a tiny amount of the dark nectar of the Gods into his body using a syringe.

"I came prepared for the send-off,” she said in the footage. "Give him a little taste here."

Then, her mother says that they are ready to give him one last drink.

"We brought you rum, Dad,’" Ms. Ann said. "We’re going to put it in [a syringe] and put it in your mouth."

Then, Pennelope was seen bending over her father and forcing the tiny amount of rum into his mouth.

As the Ann family struggles with their loss, the viral video has received close to two million views and hundreds of comments of compassion and sympathy.

One user said: "I’m a palliative care nurse and this is brilliant. May he rest in peace."

A second added: "Rest in peace. That’s an awesome send-off and I hope his wife is doing okay [as it is] such a hard thing for her to go through. Condolences to all his loved ones."

A third user chipped in with a heartwarming note: "That is a guy who wanted to celebrate the life he had and so he should do it the way he wanted to. Sleep, tight buddy."

Since her father passed away, Pennelope has used her platform to express her gratitude to the TikTok users who had reached out to her with encouraging messages.

The 27-second clip, she added, was one of "the last moments we had with my dad."

The brief segment was taken from a longer video, which she declared she will always cherish.

She disclosed that her father had been hospitalized frequently for a prolonged period before passing away due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a disorder that affects breathing.
