In the most ridiculous thing you'll read today, a woman was sacked half an hour into a new job because her employer discovered she had a tattoo on her hand.

Claire Shepherd, 27, from Swansea passed phone interviews with flying colours for her dream job as a retail merchandiser at shopping logistics company Dee Set.

Despite acing the interview, on her first day her employer discovered the tattoo would apparently 'cause offence' so she was fired after just 30 minutes.

After finding out the news of her dismissal, Claire took to Facebook to vent her frustrations and the post has since been shared over 2,000 times.

Dee Set soon got wind of the Facebook post and offered Claire the job back, but it was too little too late and she rejected the proposal.

"They saw my tattoo and saw it was not offensive. But I feel if I hadn't gone viral they wouldn't have offered me the job back. We are all individuals and someone's skin shouldn't affect their employment. I'm glad they saw their mistake and corrected it though, that's a step forward. In my opinion, tattoos do not affect your performance or ability to do a job and do not pose a health and safety risk or cause any harm. It is literally just some colour or a picture on your skin."
