A mom has made another parent very angry by charging for a playdate with their kids.
Woman Sparks Debate After Revealing She Charges Other Parents To Have Playdates With Her Children
A mom known for her thriftiness has stirred up quite the controversy by charging another parent for a playdate.
This cost-conscious mom has ruffled feathers both online and in her local community by disclosing that she charges for items that children use while visiting her home for playdates.
Brianna Weimar outlined everything she invoices other parents for, ranging from snacks to even the number of soap pumps used during handwashing.
The situation escalated when she sent a $36 Venmo request to another mom.
The 33-year-old resident of Monroe, Washington, US, ended up in a fiery debate and received sarcastic thanks for her 'hospitality.'
She mentioned: "Parents have been shocked, confused, angry, saying that they will not send their kids over to our house anymore.
"People have been very critical; they do not agree with this method at all."
The idea to start charging came to the mom-of-two as prices began to soar, affecting her financially due to the rising cost of living.
To set her rates, she meticulously created a spreadsheet to ensure her pricing was reasonable and justified.
Despite the dispute with one mother, she confirmed that her Venmo request was eventually paid.
In this particular instance, her bill included charges for snacks, meals, drinks, and soap usage.
Additionally, she billed for 45 minutes of electricity use, a cleaning fee for spilled juice, and even 10 minutes of using marker pens.
Defending her decision, Brianna explained: "Food is getting so expensive now, I was constantly refilling my kids' snacks because of all their friends coming over to play at our house.
"I have a very detailed spreadsheet that tracks all the snacks my kids regularly consume and the supplies they use. I figure out how much each item or pump of soap costs.
"For example, I measured how many ounces are in each pump of soap. Then, I calculated the cost per ounce based on the price of the soap bottle."
Brianna also shared that she had been charged by another parent in the past after her son accidentally broke something at their house.
Her video, which details this billing practice, has garnered over three million views on TikTok, sparking a wide range of reactions.
One viewer commented: "Wait what?!?!? This has to be a joke. No one would actually do this."
Another firmly stated: "When you host a play date, it is on you."
Meanwhile, someone else criticized her meticulous bookkeeping as the 'perfect way to end all friendships for your son.'
Many others have dismissed the situation as a 'joke,' which might have been the case since Brianna tagged her now-viral video with the hashtag 'Satire.'
