The Dumpster Diving Freegan shares her recent food haul from a dumpster near a supermarket. The woman shares her disbelief after seeing how much good food has simply been thrown away instead of being used or donated to the needy. While sharing her video, the TikTok user shares that she has survived on throw-away food for good two years of her life and shares that the reason she creates these videos is to bring awareness to the obscene waste in the US and she is not suggesting that people should be diving.
This woman who goes by the name @dumpsterdivingfreegan on social media platform TikTok has taken the internet by storm after she shares the staggering amount of food she managed to salvage by going dumpster diving outside grocery stores.
The woman has around 346K followers on TikTok and with her followers, she shared how grocery stores regularly throw away large quantities of food that she says is perfectly fine to eat.
The Dumpster Diving Freegan reacts to the whole situation with much disappointment and shares her disbelief over finding this much food in dustbins. The woman collects all the food and takes some of it for herself while she donates the rest of it to local food banks.
In her recent post which has received some 3 million views, the content creator shares with her followers her latest haul at a dumpster nearby a supermarket and finds large quantities of edible foods.
She somehow even managed to get her hands on organic chicken and beef, fruit, vegetables, bottles of juice, and a $65.52 turkey, which she showed her followers as part of her dumpster diving food haul.
The Dumpster Diving Freegan says in the video: "Last night I found enough meat to feed an entire community. It was 33 degrees Fahrenheit outside so everything here was still super cold and had been recently tossed.
"Everything had been thrown out on or before its best by date and as we know, best-by dates are not hard rules and everything is still good to consume."
She adds: "I’ve never seen any discount stickers on any of the items that Whole Foods has thrown out, and I left so much more behind."
Th TikTok user also goes on to clarify that "nothing featured in this video was recalled."
The woman then reveals that she was able to survive on throw-on food for good two years of her life and also takes necessary safety precautions when going dumpster diving.
The Dumpster Diving Freegan shares that when she is distributing the food items, she always informs the people from the food came from and said she has never gotten sick from consuming anything she has retrieved from dumpsters.
She said: "My page is to bring awareness to the obscene waste in the US, I am not suggesting that people should be diving."
