Woman Walks Out on Boyfriend in Bar When He Calls Her Native Language 'Rough'
Being in a relationship means accepting every part of your partner. This Redditor however found herself a little at odds with her boyfriend when they were at a bar with friends.
OP who is of Asian descent said that she had met her boyfriend 9 months ago after she had moved to a European country for her education at the age of 19.
Her European boyfriend had previously shown interest in her cultural background and OP enjoyed sharing those aspects of her life with him.
Her view however shifted a little when the two were at a bar with friends.
One of their friends asked whether her boyfriend was willing to learn OP's native language. OP was surprised by her boyfriend's reaction when he not only said no but also added that her language was 'too rough and weird'.
OP didn't like that comment and her boyfriend said that he would have been willing to learn if it was Japanese or Korean.
OP was upset by that response and decided to remove herself from the situation.
Her boyfriend started calling and texting her after she left saying that she had embarrassed him and that she was overreacting.
OP said that she had not expected him to learn her language but that his reaction had been hurtful.
