Woman Works In Nursing Home, Snaps Picture Of Resident’s Hand That’s Going Viral

A nursing aide named Brandalyn Mae Porter, who works with elderly folks, recently took to Facebook to share an incredibly sweet post about one of her residents.

Brandalyn was painting her resident's fingernails when she asked her what color she wanted. She said ‘clear.' Brandalyn said that color wasn't any fun.

The woman said her hands were ugly and she didn't want to draw any attention to them. Brandalyn told the woman that her hands were beautiful that they were hands that had touched lives and had stories of care and adventure. She told the woman that her hands told the story of her life.

She was able to convince the woman to have pink nails.

Brandalyn shared her story on facebook with a picture of the woman's hand on Love What Matters.

The sweet photo and the story behind it immediately went viral, garnering nearly 700,000 likes on the Love What Matters Facebook page, and around 120,000 shares.

Most poignant of all were the comments, many of which were from readers inspired to share similar stories.

For instance, one woman explained that she had recently painted her grandmother's nails, and her grandma chose flashy gold colors, in keeping with her "strong-spirited, feisty" personality.

In many cases, the sight of these hands, that had been through so much, brought up memories of their own beloved mothers and grandmothers who had passed on.
