World's Hairiest Family Gets Huge Support From Fans After Getting Trolled
People have stood up for the world's hairiest family after they received mean comments from online trolls.
This special family, who live in Mexico, holds the title of the largest hairy family in the world given by the Guinness World Records (GWR).
This unique condition has been in their family for five generations, which is quite amazing.
The rare genetic condition they have is called congenital generalized hypertrichosis (CGH).
As of 2009, fewer than 100 cases had been reported in the news. CGH can develop over time, but for this family, it was visible from birth.
Imagine being born with lots of hair all over your body. In this big family, there are 30 members with CGH.
Some of the well-known family members include Victor "Larry" Gomez, Gabriel "Danny" Ramos Gomez, and their cousins Luisa Lilia De Lira Aceves and Jesus Manuel Fajardo Aceves.
According to GWR, women with CGH have a light-to-medium coat of hair, while men in the family have thick hair covering about 98 percent of their bodies.
The only parts without hair are their palms and the soles of their feet.
Jesus Manuel Fajardo Aceves was featured in a 2014 documentary called "Chuy, The Wolf Man."
In this film, he talked about the tough times he had faced since he was a kid because of his condition.
When Jesus was just 13 years old, he joined the circus. Jesus said: "My life in the circus started when I was 13.
"The man said he'd pay us well and said he wanted all of us. He said he would house us and there'd be money. I said, 'Yes.'"
Even though Jesus and his mother always had a comfortable place to stay and plenty to eat, he didn't like being 'locked up.'
He shared in the Eva Aridjis film: "We were always locked up.
"They were presenting us as attractions so we couldn't be seen on the street. I didn't like that, being locked up so people wouldn't see us."
It must have been really hard for him to feel like he was always on display.
The documentary helped people get to know the Gomez and Aceves family's names and faces.
However, they haven't always been met with kindness.
Some online trolls even asked if the family was related to the Star Wars character Chewbacca, which is really mean.
But many people came to their defense. One person wrote online: "It's what's in their heart that counts."
Another said: "I think it's pretty awesome! Very unique!"
"Wow, that's truly extraordinary," said a third. "It must be quite a unique journey for the family navigating through such a rare condition together."
The support from these kind people shows that, despite the negativity from some, many appreciate the uniqueness and strength of the Gomez and Aceves family.
The family continues to live their lives with dignity and pride, facing their challenges together.
They show us that being different is something to be proud of and that we should always be kind to others, no matter how they look
