Entitled SIL Loses It At Family Dinner, Demands Custody Over Baby

A mother of three was terrified when her sister-in-law asked to take custody of her youngest child, a three-month-old infant. 

The mother claimed that her partner's sister, who is infertile by nature, always felt some sort of jealousy toward her way of life.

The mother revealed her sister-in-law's actions in a post that was widely circulated online.

The mother claimed that after her sister-in-law learned that she couldn't conceive naturally, the family did everything they could to soothe her. She referred to her sister-in-law as being "devastated".

Nevertheless, the mother claimed that her sister-in-law had asked for custody of her three-month-old child during a family meal.

In an effort to establish a "motherly bond" with the child, the sister-in-law offered that the young child spend the weekdays with her and the weekends with her mother.

While many people were sympathetic toward the sister-in-law, they also believed that she posed a risk and recommended the mother change her locks.

Most suggestions were reasonable, while others, like getting a gun were a little excessive.

Though it may seem improbable that the SIL would actually attempt to kidnap a child, her request for custody was already absurd, thus it is wise to be safe. 

Long-term, the SIL definitely requires the assistance of a therapist, but it's crucial to avoid casting this as the OP's responsibility.
