An Australian Youtuber shares a video in which he visited the Island in which the tribal people were totally disconnected from the outside world.
YouTuber Visits Indigenous Island Tribe That Has Had 'Barely Any Contact With The Outside World'
An Australian YouTuber traveled to the 'forgotten islands' of Northern Vanuatu, where outsiders rarely get an inside look at tribal life.
Brodie Moss, a vlogger from Exmouth, Western Australia, visited Kwakéa Island and filmed his trip in a video.
Moss refers to a Caucasian man on Kwakéa Island simply as Brett.
Brett stays on the island after his grandfather obtained permission from the islanders to stay after 'the war.'
Local indigenous tribes on the neighboring islands continue to live as their forefathers did: off the land, catching fish from the sea, and cutting off from the modern world and any technology.
"Welcome to the South Pacific's forgotten islands," Moss remarked in the viral video, which has been viewed over 2.2 million times.
"I’m at the northernmost island group in Vanuatu, There are no shops, there’s hardly any power or reception, and we'll be eating whatever we can catch from the ocean or on the land."
Before the group boards a boat to see the more secluded indigenous people, Brett shows out his little, ramshackle cabin.
"See those islands there in the distance? We’re heading towards them. They’re the islands, Brett, trades with, and the one where all the locals are from," Brodie said.
"But they haven’t really seen people like us before except for Brett, so anything can happen."
Some were pulling their bows and arrows.
Instead of shooting, the native tribesmen take Brett and Brodie to the chief.
Before the chief speaks, the shouting and whooping villagers can be seen growing silent.
"With my people, I am welcoming both of you," he said in a translation.
The tribe then breaks out in song and dance, as the Aussie and his friends can be seen breathing a sigh of relief.
Later in the clip, Brodie said: "I was not expecting that. That was one of the most beautiful, insane, and kind of scary experiences I've ever had but [it has given me] all the feels, all of the emotions.”
"The people here are amazing."
One commenter said: "One villager pulled his bow and arrow up at Brodie on the trail to the village. It was difficult to tell in the beginning whether or not the islanders would lead them to death or celebration."
A second said: "It was scary at the start... They are the real sons and daughters of nature."
A third noted: "What's mind-blowing is that all these ancient tribes seem to be so much happier than we are."
Survival International estimates that there are more than 100 "uncontacted" tribes throughout the world today.
