Zendaya has shared why she particularly enjoyed filming the intimate scenes in the movie "Challengers."
Zendaya's upcoming film has caught people's attention because of its intense and passionate scenes, and the actress has shared why she enjoyed filming these moments.
It's well-known that many Hollywood actors struggle with filming sexual and intimate scenes due to the discomfort and awkwardness involved.
It's understandable, as actors often aim to make their interactions appear genuine, rather than just two people mechanically interacting.
However, Zendaya has shared her positive experience filming the intimate moments in her new sports drama, "Challengers."
Interestingly, she found these scenes more comfortable to film than the sports sequences, despite her character being portrayed as a tennis prodigy.
"Challengers" follows the story of Tashi, played by Zendaya, a former tennis star turned coach.
Tashi is married to a man whose career is faltering.
Her plan to help her husband regain his form takes an unexpected turn when he has to compete against his former best friend and Tashi’s ex-boyfriend.
Zendaya, currently dating her "Spider-Man" co-star Tom Holland, discussed her role with The Mirror: "Tashi is extremely driven."
"She's a go-getter and she is totally ruthless. The intimate scenes were so good – I loved it. I felt very lucky to be partnered with those guys.
"And whatever the moment, it always felt like they always had my back and I had theirs.
"We were so lucky to have a director in Luca Guadagnino who really encouraged us all to collaborate and to bring our own ideas. It was a really exciting creative process."
Zendaya also confessed that she was less enthusiastic about the athletic demands of her role.
She hopes her portrayal convinces viewers.
She added: "How did I meet the physical challenges of the role? With great difficulty. I am not one of these people who love to work out.
"But Tashi is supposed to be a top athlete, so there was no getting around it. Thankfully, I had an amazing group of people who helped and I learned a lot – about air tennis especially and how to look like I know what I'm doing.
"We trained for something like six weeks, which was pretty tough. Hopefully, we did a good job and people won't be too upset.
"But I'm not about to give up the day job, that's for sure! Playing tennis was definitely the most challenging part of making Challengers."
"Challengers" is scheduled for release in theaters on April 26.
