Zendaya Reveals Why She Keeps Her Relationship With Tom Holland Private, “It’s About Protecting The Peace”

Zendaya and Tom Holland might just be the darling couple of Hollywood; yet, being in a relationship under the spotlight brings along its own set of difficulties. Reflecting on this, Holland mentioned that when they made their relationship public twenty-four months ago, they felt a distinct intrusion on their personal privacy.

"One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn't really in our control anymore," he said in a 2021 interview with GQ."

"And a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world."

"I've always been really adamant to keep my private life private, because I share so much of my life with the world anyway."

"We sort of felt robbed of our privacy."

In a recent conversation with Jay Shetty on July 10th, the 27-year-old actor took it a step further by expressing his feelings about Hollywood, stating that the industry isn't to his liking and doesn't align with his preferences.

"Look, I really am a massive fan of making movies but I really do not like Hollywood, it is not for me," he said.

"The business really scares me. I understand that I'm a part of that business, and I enjoy my kind of interactions with it."

"But that said, I am always looking for ways to kind of remove myself from it, to kind of just live as normal a life as possible."

"Today, doing this podcast is a very rare thing for me to do."

Zendaya, his girlfriend and co-star in Spider-Man, has subsequently revealed that she has had to come to terms with her situation.

"Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public," the 26-year-old said in a new interview with Elle on August 23.

"I can't not be a person and live my life and love the person I love."

"But also, I do have control over what I choose to share," she added.

"It's about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist. You can't hide. That's not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now."

They purposely kept their relationship hidden for several months, a decision they made intentionally.

"Our relationship is something that we are quite protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible," Holland told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year."

"We don't think that we owe it to anyone, it's our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers."
