People Shocked After Finding Out What's Really In Mcdonald's Sweet 'n' Sour Sauce

Some McDonald's fans are taken aback after finally finding out what actually goes into Sweet 'n' Sour sauce.

Let’s face it, everyone has their favorite McDonald's order. If someone asked for your go-to right now, you'd likely have it ready to shout out in seconds.

But even though McDonald's is a household name and has been around for what feels like forever, it turns out a lot of people still don’t know what’s really in some of their favorite sauces that they enjoy with their meals.

When it comes to Sweet 'n' Sour sauce, there’s actually a surprising ingredient in there that many people might not have guessed.

A video clip on TikTok recently resurfaced, showing radio hosts in Melbourne, Australia, revealing the surprising truth to their audience.

Lauren Phillips couldn’t resist spoiling her co-host's moment as she revealed what was actually in the sauce, right as he was enjoying his McNuggets with it.

Lauren got her co-host Jason Hawkins to announce that it was already a "good day" when she brought in a McDonald's order.

"Jason, you need to get into those nuggets and get into in particular your favorite sauce," she teased.

Jason, thrilled to dig in, was quickly working his way through the nuggets and dipping into the sauce with enthusiasm.

"Would you believe, it is actually apricot flavor?" Lauren added, dropping the bombshell.

Jason froze mid-bite, clearly disappointed, and put down his half-eaten nugget, admitting he "hates apricots." Suddenly, he could taste the apricot flavor now that he knew what was in the sauce.

Lauren continued poking fun, noting how she’d managed to ruin his favorite sauce, and TikTok users felt equally betrayed.

"You have ruined my favorite sauce," one upset fan commented.

"I can now never have sweet and sour sauce again," added another.

"Now that I've heard that it actually does taste like apricot. Big Mac sauce and nuggets is where it is at though," chimed in someone else.

"My husband is the same, hates apricot. Despises apricot chicken the most too. Haha I can't wait to tell him."

Some users pointed out that the apricot ingredient might only apply to McDonald's Sweet 'n' Sour sauce and not to other brands’ versions.

McDonald's Australia’s official TikTok account even stepped in to address fans’ reactions.

"Hear me out, try dipping your Soft Serve in Sweet and Sour Sauce," the account humorously suggested.

Other users were baffled that more people hadn’t already known about the apricot ingredient in the sauce.

"How do people not know this?" another person wondered aloud.

"Sweet n Sour is essentially Apricot jam and white vinegar," someone else pointed out.

Other ingredients in the Sweet 'n Sour sauce include salt, xanthan gum, peach puree, garlic powder, cellulose gum, caramel color, paprika extract, dried chili peppers, onion powder, and more.
