Miley Cyrus disclosed the precise moment when she realized her marriage to Liam Hemsworth had reached its end. She revealed this pivotal moment during the 37th installment of her TikTok series, "Used to Be Young." The two were first romantically linked back in 2008 after starring in the movie, The Last Song, together.
Miley Cyrus Shares The Exact Moment She Knew Her Marriage To Liam Hemsworth Was Over
Miley Cyrus has shared the specific moment when she recognized that her marriage with Liam Hemsworth had ended. The 30-year-old former Hannah Montana star has been engaging her fans through a TikTok series aimed at promoting her new song, 'Used to Be Young,' where she candidly discusses her past and current relationships.
Prior to her iconic "wrecking ball" moment, Miley gained fame through her role on the Disney series Hannah Montana, which aired from 2006 to 2011.
During that period, Miley initially crossed paths with Liam in 2009 while working on the set of The Last Song.
One year later, the couple inadvertently confirmed their relationship when photographs captured them sharing a romantic kiss at the airport.
By 2012, when Miley was just 19 years old, the couple were engaged, but called it quits a year later, sparking Miley's unforgettable 'Wrecking Ball' era.
"I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam," she told People at the time.
Miley and Liam made headlines again in 2016 when they officially got back together, finally tying the knot in December 2018 - only to call it quits again less than a year later.
Unfortunately, the 'Liley' fans were disappointed as Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth ended their relationship and officially got divorced in 2020.
Interestingly, Miley knew their relationship was over a year before they officially divorced, and she realized this while performing on stage at the Glastonbury Festival in 2019.
She said: "The day of the Glastonbury show was the day I had decided it was no longer going to work in my life to be in that relationship."
"That was another moment where the work, the performance, the character came first."
"And I guess now that's why it's so important to me for me to not be the case anymore."
In another clip, the 'Flowers' singer recalled the chemistry the two had when they first met: "I think one of the elements that made that movie feel so special was it was watching two very young people fall in love with each other, which was happening in real time and real life."
"So, the chemistry was undeniable and that was the beginning of a long, 10-year relationship."
Months after the divorce, Cyrus told the Joe Rogan Experience podcast: "What really sucked about it wasn't the fact that me and someone that I loved realized that we don't love each other the way that we used to anymore."
"That's OK. I can accept that. I can't accept the villainizing and just all those stories."
Some time back during one of her concerts, Miley Cyrus threw shade at her short-lived marriage to Liam Hemsworth while congratulating a couple on stage during her performance.
The 'Wrecking Ball' singer invited the couple on stage for one partner to propose to the other in front of the whole crowd.
As one man recited an emotional speech in Portuguese to his boyfriend and got down on his knees to pop the big question, the boyfriend joyfully replied 'yes.'
The proposal was met with huge cheering and big applause, with the 29-year old singer also congratulating the couple as she shouted: "Yes! Forever b****. Congratulations."
After giving a congratulations hug to the overjoyed couple, Cyrus shared her bitter experience of her marriage and said: "Honey, I hope your marriage goes better than mine, mine was a f****** disaster."
