A young Peruvian girl named Lina Medina experienced a life filled with tragedy and hardship after becoming the world's youngest mother in recorded history.

In 1939, at the tender age of five years old, Lina gave birth to a baby boy, and her harrowing case remains an unsolved mystery even to this day.

The concerns surrounding Lina's condition initially arose when she started exhibiting an unusual growth around her stomach area.

Living in a remote Andes village, her parents feared that she might have an abdominal tumor.

However, in April of 1939, Lina's mother took her to the hospital to seek medical attention from Dr. Gérado Lozada, and it was then discovered that the young girl was already seven months pregnant.

Against all odds, Lina went on to deliver a healthy baby boy via Caesarean section just weeks later on May 14th, at the incredibly young age of five years, seven months, and 21 days.

The newborn boy was named Gerado, after the doctor who had overseen Lina's extraordinary case.

Medical professionals later determined that Lina suffered from a rare condition called precocious puberty, a disorder that causes a child to experience puberty at an abnormally young age.

It was revealed that Lina had started her menstrual periods years before giving birth, with her mother stating that she had been menstruating since the age of three.

Due to this rare condition, Lina had developed adult sexual organs as a toddler, which meant that she was physically capable of conceiving a child at such a young age.

However, the most troubling question that arose at the time was: who had molested and impregnated this innocent child?

Initially, authorities suspected that Lina's tragic case might have been the result of incest, and their suspicions fell upon her father, Tilburelo, who was subsequently arrested and charged with sexual assault.

Nonetheless, the man was later released due to a lack of evidence.

To this day, the identity of the boy's father and the person who assaulted the five-year-old Lina has never been revealed, leaving this case shrouded in mystery.

Years later, Lina married a man named Raul Jurado, and in 1972, she gave birth to another son, making him over 30 years older than his half-brother, who was born in 1939.

Tragically, Gerado, Lina's firstborn, passed away at the age of 40 in 1979, just a few years after his younger half-brother was welcomed into the Medina family.

Various reports suggest that Gerado was not informed that Lina was his mother until he was 10 years old, having previously believed that she was his sister.

Other reports shed light on the lack of support and assistance Lina received after the medical anomaly that shocked the world.

Raul, Lina's husband, stated to the press: "She got no help that I know about. She thinks governments never deliver."

Speaking when Lina was 68 years old, Raul told Telegraph India that she was living in a "cramped house in a poor, crime-ridden district" in Peru.

It remains unclear whether Lina is still alive today, but her story as the youngest person to have ever given birth continues to captivate and sadden those who hear it.
